LE Steve Fox Medical Shortage

Dear Editor:

We have a shortage of medical personnel.  There are just not enough nurses, x-ray technicians, and other medical employees for this large and ever-growing community.

Our hospitals are having to hire temporary medical staff, called “registry” to fill the medical job vacancies, however, a nurse may not have the full training in each area of practice.

Hospitals will soon have to choose between closing beds because of the lack of trained personnel, and going bankrupt.  Thereby, limiting our access to healthcare.

The State provides funding for programs at the Jr. College level, where nursing programs, x-ray programs and other necessary programs are taught.

The State needs to reevaluate its priorities, by reallocation additional funds for the training of medical personnel at our community colleges.

Sincerely yours,

Steve Fox, Esq.
